This is an infrared portrait of my girlfriend ~picturenoise. It took a couple of attempts until I got sharp pictures because of the (in terms of portrait photography) slow shutter speed and the focus shift between visible light and IR.

Model:

~picturenoise

Gear:

Canon EOS 1000D
Canon EF 50 mm f/1.8 II lens
Hoya R72 infrared filter
Giotto's VT 802 tripod

Technical details:

Aperture: F/1.8
Shutter speed: 1/4 s
ISO setting: 400

I too like my image in this picture very much. It is suggesting a moment of harmony and the colours are not loud and bright, but fine and sweet. It suggests for me, my own life would be calm, sweet and full of harmony. In fact it is not, but this is a nice thought.

Nice pose there is calmness to it
I always like how IR portraits come out
I’ll put it this way I like how IR gives you softer skin tone and in this shot really brings out her hair

Thank you. I chose this one out of many shots primarily because I like the pose.

This is very nice, but i am more interested in your thoughts and feeling towards this piece of art.
I personally found it extremely unsettling, and her calming pose formed the triangle gave a presents of power as well as peace.

Thank you. You found it unsettling although you describe the pose as calming? Sounds a bit inconsistent to me. My thoughts and feelings on this particular picture are those associated with a pleasant memory -- a peaceful moment one might want to remember in times of trouble and uncertainty.

I should have explain the 'unsettling', I was on about the background and IR contrast.

I see. You find the surreal aspect of IR portraits alienating. That's good. :)
